Paramore has released the official music video for “Fake Happy” from their latest album After Laughter.  The video was directed by the band’s drummer, Zac Farro.

The music video was recorded in New York City and shows the band’s vocalist, Hayley Williams, walking around the city.  The faces of everyone she passes by are covered by upside down smiley faces.

Eventually, Hayley is shown with “mascara tears” and covers her face with the upside down smiley face too.

The video is symbolic of the artificial happiness that most of the world puts on as the song implies.  The upside down smiley faces show that people try to put on a happy face no matter how fake it may seem.
